OUR BRANCH
IPC Salmiya Branch is located in Block 4, Hamad Al-Mubarak St., Lane 1, House 14. It started its operation last November 11, 2006 corresponding to Shawwal 21, 1427. It is easily accessible by any means of transportation as it is situated in the heart of the city. It is in front of the main Salmiya Cooperative Society, KFC, Pizza Hut, Family Center and Burger King. If taking the bus, ride buses plying #999, #17, #19 and bus stop is right in front of Burger King. Take the pedestrian flyover in front of Burger King and from there IPC can be easily spotted by its logo. We are surrounded by major landmarks in Kuwait – shopping centers, banks, schools, universities, mosques, hospitals, sports club, restaurant chains and many others. To name a few – Sultan Center, Centrepoint, Marina Mall, Laila Galeria, Al-Fanar Complex, New Mowasat Hospital, International Clinic, NBK, KFH, etc. It is open from Sunday to Thursday. Please call for duty timings as it fluctuates according to the season.
OUR COURSES
Courses on Arabic Language and Islam are offered FREE in all branches of IPC.
There are 3 semesters in a year: (1) Spring, (2) Summer and (3) Autumn or Winter. Summer semester usually starts in the month of June/July and ends right before Ramadan. There are no classes offered during the holy month of fasting (i.e. Ramadan), except for basic courses for revert Muslims and special lectures highlighting fasting and the excellence of Ramadan.
A new semester (i.e. Autumn/Winter) begins right after the Eid Al-Fitr holidays. For regular semesters, Arabic Language class runs for 2 hours per week for 16 weeks (i.e. 4 months). There is a midterm exam (50 points) on the 8th week and a final exam (50 points) on the 16th week, which is the end of the semester. On the other hand, Islamic class runs for 1½ hour only. For Summer semester, Arabic Language class runs for 2 hours twice a week for 8 weeks (i.e. 2 months). Islamic class runs for 2½ hours per week for 8 weeks. There are no classes during public holidays.
Graduation ceremony will be held once a year only, the date and venue will be informed at a later date. Certificates will be handed upon graduation, unless requested for other purpose. The grading system is (a) from 50 to 69 points – Passed, (b) from 70 to79 points – Good, (c) from 80 to 89 points – Very Good and (d) from 90 to 100 points – Excellent. Passing a lower level in Arabic language means a qualification to the next level, and then up to a higher level according to one’s capability. Anyone having an Arabic language background are requested to appear for a placement exam to determine which course level is suited for her.
The requirements are (i) Passport copy, (ii) Civil ID copy, (iii) Photograph ID and (iv) 5 Kuwaiti Dinars deposit as a guarantee for completion of the Arabic language course. This amount will be refunded at the end of the semester. All Islamic courses are offered in various languages (Filipino, Sinhali, Tamili, Urdu and Hindi).
A course on the “Basics of Islam” for revert Muslims is also offered in the languages mentioned. For English speakers, the course is offered on special arrangement and in most cases, only one-on-one basis.
Opening of the new semester will be advertised in local newspapers, Arab Times and Al-Waseet.
