To begin with, there are many verses in the Quran itself that underscore the majesty of Allah’s verses and the Quran itself –
Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
Say: ‘If the mankind and the jinn were together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they helped one another’”[Quran Al-Israa’ 17:88]
Had We sent down this Quran on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rending asunder by the fear of Allah. Such are the parables which We put forward to mankind that they may reflect. [Quran Al-Hashr 59:21]
“This is the Book (the Quran), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqoon [the pious] [Quran Al-Baqarah 2:2]
We all know from the Quran and the Ahadeeth about the countless rewards and benefits of praying and reciting Quran during the nightly prayers (last one third of the night)
As is stated in the hadeeth narrated by ‘Abd-Allah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allah be pleased with them both), in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
Whoever recites ten aayaat (verses) in qiyaam will not be recorded as one of the forgetful. Whoever recites a hundred aayaat (verses) in qiyaam will be recorded as one of the devout, and whoever prays a thousand aayaat (verses) in qiyaam will be recorded as one of the muqantareen (those who pile up good deeds).” (Reported by Abu Dawood and Ibn Hibbaan. It is a hasan report. Saheeh al-Targheeb, 635).
Imaam al-Bukhaari used to pray qiyaam and tahajjud at night until the time of suhoor, and he would read between a half and a third of the Quran, and complete it at suhoor every third night.
Quran has even more of an important significance in the month of Ramadan, the month of fasting.
Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong) [Quran al-Baqarah 2:185]
Jibreel used to come to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) every night in Ramadaan, and study the Quran with him. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5; Muslim, 4268.
Hence the salaf used to read Quran a great deal during Ramadan, following the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Qataadah (may Allah have mercy on him) used to complete the Quran every seven nights all the time, and every three nights in Ramadaan, and every two nights during the last ten days of Ramadaan.
Ibraaheem al-Nakha’i used to complete the Quran in Ramadaan every three nights, and in the last ten days every two nights.
The rewards of reciting the Quran are many. An authentic hadith in At-Tirmithee states:
Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” So increase your recitation of the Qur’an to gain these merits, and to gain the following merit as well.
In another hadeeth, ‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, relates that the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said:
Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
This hadith proves that people who are not well versed in the Arabic languge or have other difficulties in reciting the Quran, get even a higher reward for reciting the Quran in Arabic for their extra effort.
The Prophet said:
The Qur’an is an intercessor, something given permission to intercede, and it is rightfully believed in. Whoever puts it in front of him, it will lead him to Paradise; whoever puts it behind him, it will steer him to the Hellfire.” [An authentic hadith found in At-Tabaraanee, on the authority of ‘Abdullaah ibn Mas’ood]
The following are authentic Ahadeeth regarding the benefits of certain Soorahs.
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
There is a soorah of the Quran containing thirty verses which have interceded for a man until he was forgiven. It is the soorah Tabaarak alladhi bi yadihi’l-mulk. Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2891; Ahmad, 7634; Abu Dawood, 1400; Ibn Maajah, 3786. This hadeeth was classed as hasan by al-Tirmidhi and by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 3/6.
(Question) :- Prophet Muhammad PBUH was asked that how you recognize your ummah on judgement day among the unlimited people of other ummahs?
(Answers) :- Prophet PBUH replied, people of my umaah will have bright face and hands due to the effect of ablution. and there will be no one like them .
[ Sahi Muslim, Book of Purity, Hadith:247 ]
Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him ) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as saying: The adornment of the believer ( in Paradise) will reach the places where the water of ablution will reach (Muslim) .
Millions of muslims use miswak and know how amazing it is, once you use it, you will never need any dentist as it even takes care of your calculus, which in modern medicine has no other way than visiting a dentist. you don’t need mouthwash, tooth brush and toothpaste.
Those of you who have never heard about it and might be wondering or laughing in mind that how can a stick take care of your teeth and gums, well let me put a few facts before you and then please decide.
Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) taught us the complete way of life, and using Miswak was highly recommended by him .
Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), said, “Siwak cleanses the mouth and pleases the Lord”, and “if I had not found it hard for my followers or the people, I would have ordered them to clean their teeth with siwak for every prayer.”
Abu Ayyub (R) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said:
‘Four things are amongst the practices of the Ambiyaa(Prophets of ALLAH)
circumcision, application of perfume, Miswaak and marriage’. (Ahmed and Tirmizi)
Advantages of Miswaak:
1. Miswaak strengthens the gums and prevents tooth decay.
2. Miswaak assists in eliminating toothaches and prevents further increase of decay which has already set in.
3. Miswaak creates a fragrance in the mouth.
4. Miswaak is a cure for illness.
5. Miswaak eliminates bad odors and improves the sense of taste.
6. Miswaak sharpens the memory.
7. Miswaak is a cure for headaches.
8. Miswaak creates lustre (noor) on the face of the one who continually uses it.
9. Miswaak causes the teeth to glow.
10. Miswaak strengthens the eyesight.
11. Miswaak assists in digestion.
12. Miswaak clears the voice.
13. The greatest benefit of using miswaak is gaining the pleasure of Allah.
14. The reward of Salaah (Prayers) is multiplied 70 times if Miswaak was used before it.
Times when usage of Miswaak is Sunnah:
1. For the recitation of the Qur’an.
2. For the recitation of Hadith.
3. When the mouth emits and odor.
4. For the learning or teaching of virtues of Islaam.
5. For making Dhikrullah (Remebrance of Allah, meditation).
6. After entering ones home.
7. Before entering any good gathering.
8. When experiencing pangs of hunger and thirst.
9. After the signs of death are evident.
10. At the time of Sehri.
11. Before meals.
12. Before undertaking a journey.
13. On returning from a journey.
14. Before sleeping.
15. Upon awakening.
Anas ( Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Take a pre-dawn tiffin be cause there is a blessing in it. (Agreed Upon)
Zaid bin Thabit ( Allah be pleased with him) reported that we took predawn tiffin with the Messenger of Allah ( peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and then we stood up for lprayer. It was asked: How long did the interval between the two last? Je re[;oed” The time required for the recitation of fifty verses. ( Agreed Upon)
Ibn ‘Umar (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had two Mu’adhdhins, Bilal and son of Umm Maktum. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said : Bilal pro claims Allah at fag end of night, so eat and drink till the son of Umm Maktum announces Adhan, and the difference of time betwen their Adhan was not more than this that one deseened (from the minaret) and the other ascended to announce Adhan. (Agreed Upon)
Amrbinal-As (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as saying: The difference between our observance of fast and that of the people of the Book is taking pre-dawn tiffin. (Muslim)
Pour out much blessings on us in this month,
make available for us its generous good and assistance,
and keep us safe from the harm, evil, misfortune and mischief
that may try to trap us in this month.
Ali (Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be up on him) as saying : when a Muslim inquires after the health of another sick Mulim at dawn, seventy thousand angles continue seeking salvation for him till dusk. If he visits him in the evening seventy thousand angels continue invoking blessing on him till the monrning and he will have gathered fruit in paradise . (Tirmidhi)
A’isha (Allah be pleased with her ) reported: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) visited any member of his family he used to touch the invalid with his right hand and beseech: O’ Allah! Lord of mandkind! Remove this disease and cure him! You are the Great Cure. There is no cure but through your healing power which leaves behind no disease. ( A greed upon)
Ibn ‘ Asakir said: He is Solomon bin David bin Jesse bin Aweid bin Aber bin Salmun bin Nahshun bin Amenadab bin Iram bin Hasrun bin Fars bin Judah bin Jacob bin Isaac bin Abraham.
” And Solomon was David’s heir, and said: ‘ O people! We have been taught the speech of the birds, and we have been given from everything: indeed this is a manifest bounty.
Solomon inherited David in prophethood and kingdom. It is not the familiar meaning of inheritance that we understand usually. Because. there were other sons of David, so he was not alone to inherit the wealth and properties. It is also narrated from the Companions that the prophet (pbuh) said:
” We do not leave inheritance, whatever we left behind is charity .
in another version he said:
” We the assembly of Prophets do not leave inheritance.”
So whatever the Prophets leave after their death, is not divided as inheritance, but goes to charity to be distributed among poor and destitute.
Solomon said: ”O people! We have been taught the speech of the birds.”
This Verse shows that Solomon understood the language of all kinds of Birds, and sopke to them in their Languages.
” And we have been given from everything.” Allah had granted Solomon every thing he needed to govern as a sovereign, more than what he granted other kings and relers berfore or after him. He was given huge armies of men, jinn, birds, wild animals, and the knowledge and science of other things, and the abillity to understnad the other silent creatures. Allah counted this as one of the manifest bounties upon Solomon. Allah said:
” And for Solomon were assembled his hosts of jinn, men and birds, and they were ranged in order and rank. When they came to the valleys of the ants, an ant said: ‘O you ants! Enter your dwelling places, lest Solomon and his hosts trample you without noticing. ‘ So he smile, amused at her speech, and said: My Lord! Inspire me that I may be grateful for your favours which you have bestowed on lme and on my lparents, and that I may do righteous deeds as may please you, and admit me by your Mercy, among your righteous slave.
One day Solomon gathered all his armies of men, jinn, and birds, and then marched with them, till he came with them to a valley. As soon he was seen approaching the valley by an ant, she cried out and warned the other ants in the valley to move out of the way, as not to be crushed under the feet of tghe armies. ” O you ants! Enter your dwelling places, lest Solomon and his hosts trample you without noticing.”
Solomon heard the ant and understood what she said to the other ants. He smiled at hearing what others could not hear. It is important to point out one of the prevalent belliefs among ignorant people. Whe believe that animals before Solomon spoke and addressed people . till Solomon came and took a covenant from them not to spleak with them again. No one would say such, except those who don’t know (i.e.the ignorant) . Were it to be true, there would not have been any privileged for Solomon in speaking to the animals. That is why Solomon prayed to Allah asking His Grace for him to be grateful for His favours upon him. And it was only because Allah had chosen him for those favours upon both, on himself as well as on his prarents.
HOOPOE AND BELQIS
” And he inspected the bird, and said: How is it I do not see the hoopoe bird? Or is he not here? I will punish him severely, or even slaughter him, unless he brings me an acceptable excuse, ‘ But the bird did not take long before it came, and said: ‘ I have come to know something that you do not know, and I have come form sheba with sure news for you. there I found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given abundance of every thing, and she has a magnificent throne.
I found her and her people prostrating themselves to the sun, instead of Allah. Satan has made their deeds alluring to them, and ha hindred them from the way, so that they are not guided; nor do they prostrate themselves to Allah, who brings forth what is conceal and what you reveal. Allah , there is no God (worthy of worship) but He, the Lord of the Mighty Throne. ‘ Solomon said: ‘ We will see whether you have told the truth, or whether you have lied. Go with this letter of mine, and eliver it to them, then stand aside and see what answer they return.
” She said: ‘ O chiefs! An honourable letter has been delivered to me. It is from Solomon, and it is: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful . Do not be arrogant, and come to me in submission (to the true religion) .’ She said: O chiefs! Counsel me on this matter, no affair have I decided before but after I had consulted you. ‘ They said: ‘We are endued with strength, and possess great force, but the decision rests with you, so consider what you will command.
” She said:
Surely, kings, when they enter a town, ruin it, and make the noblest of lits people abased, and thus do they behave. And now i am sending them a figt,
Previously humans did not know that plants too have male and female gender distinctions. Botany states that every plant has a male and female gender. Even the plants that are unisexual have distinct elements of both male and female.
” And has sent Down water from the sky.’ With it have we produced Diverse pairs of plants Each separate from the others.” ( Al- Qur’an 20:53)
FRUITS CREATED IN LPAIRS, MALE AND FEMALE
” Aand fruit of every kind He made In pairs, two and two.” (Al-Qur’an13:3)
Fruit is the end product of reproduction of the superior plants. The stage preceding fruit is the flower, which has male and female organs (stamens and ovules). Once pollen has been carried to the flower , they bear fruit, which in turn matures and frees itws seed. All fruits therefore imply the existence of male and female oragans; a fact that is mentioned in the Qur’an.
In certain pecies, fruit can come from non-fertilized flowers (parthenocarpic fruit) e.g. bananas, certain types of pineapple, fig, orange, vine, etc. They also have definite sexual characteristics.
EVERYTHING MADE IN PAIRS
” And of everything we have created pairs.” (Al-qur’an 51:49)
This refers to things other than humans, animals, plants and fruits. It may also be referring to a phenomenon like electricity in which the atoms consist of negatively – and positively – charged electrons and protons.
” Glory to Allah, who created In pairs all things that The earth produces, as well as Their own (human ) kind And (other) things of which They have no knowledge.” (Al-Qur’an 36:36)
The Qur’an here says that everything is created in pairs, including things that the humans do not know at present and may discover later.
