Are you ready to practice this act which was loved by Prophet (pbuh)?

In this article i would love to write an article on act (sunnah )which was loved by Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) which is called I’tikaf which was practiced by him and his family especially during Ramadhan.

First let us understand what is I’tikaf ?

I’tikaf is retiring to a Masjid for worshipping Allah Almighty. It is one of the Sunnan that are authenticated in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (prayers peace and of Allah be upon him).

Allah Almighty says: “And do not have sexual relations with them (your wives) while you are in I‘tikâf (i.e. confining oneself in a Masjid for prayers and invocations leaving the worldly activities) in the Masjids” [Al-Baqarah 2:187]

Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to observe I’tikaf during the last ten days of Ramadhan until Allah took his soul, then his wives observed I’tikaf after he was gone. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2026; Muslim, 1172.

I’tikaf is has become a forgotten sunnah of these days, but this suunah has more value during Ramadhan than the rest of the year, but I’tikaf can be practiced even in normal days. The Muslim could begin his I’tikaf whenever he likes and end it whenever he likes. However, it is better to practice I’tikaf in the last ten of Ramadhan.I’tikaf is done to devote oneself for worshipping Allah in one of His Masjids to gain His grace and reward. And best during last ten days of ramadhan because he can be away from worldly affair and seek Lailatul Qadr (Night of Power) and devote to worship Allah in Lailatul Qadr!

How can a person perform I’tikaf?

The scholars are unanimously agreed that for a man, i‘tikaf is not valid unless it is done in the mosque, because Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning): “And do not have sexual relations with them (your wives) while you are in I‘tikaf (i.e. confining oneself in a mosque for prayers and invocations leaving the worldly activities) in the mosques” [al-Baqarah 2:187]. So i‘tikaf is to be done specifically in the mosques.

I‘tikaaf in the last ten days of Ramadhan is Sunnah and mustahabb for men, and also for women if there is no danger of fitnah and there is a place that is only for women, and so long as it will not keep her away from her obligatory work, and it is done with the permission of her husband.

Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to stay in the mosque the whole time, and not leave it except to relieve himself. ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “He would not enter his house for anything except for a need when he was observing i’tikaf.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2029; Muslim, 297.

‘Aa’ishah said: The Sunnah is for the person in i’tikaaf not to visit the sick or attend funerals, or to be intimate with his wife. But there is nothing wrong with his going out for essential needs. Narrated by Abu Dawood, 2473; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

You are allowed to get out the Masjid for fulfilling your urgent needs such as going to the water closet or bringing food and drink, if there is no body to bring it to you. The same is applied to going to the doctor, if you became sick during your I’tikaf.

Note: it should not done for purpose of boasting.
“The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended” [Agreed upon]

May Allah comfort our eyes with His worship and make us among the successful and accepted people. And may Allah forgive us and our parents and all Muslims. And peace and prayers of Allah be upon our prophet, Muhammad, and all his family and companions.

Excellence of Prayer at Night – Qiyam al-layl

Qiyaam al-layl(The night prayer ) is Sunnah mu’akkadah (a confirmed Sunnah) which plays a great role in strengthening one’s faith and gaining more rewards. Many texts of the Qur’aan and Sunnah encourage it and speak of its high status and great reward. This Qiyaam al-layl(The night prayer ) is not performed only during Ramadhan as most of us practice, it is a spiritual activity which should be performed everyday. But in Ramdhan Qiyaam al-layl(The night prayer ) has multiplied good deeds as it is a blessed month.

when Allah says about those who stands at the night for prayer:
Is one who is devoutly obedient during periods of the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer], fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, [like one who does not]? Say, “Are those who know equal to those who do not know?” Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.[Az-Zumar 39:9]

And in another Quranic verse Allah states as:
Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [ Allah ] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant. They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend. And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do. [al-Sajdah 32:15-17]

And in another Quranic verse Allah states as:
Verily, the Muttaqoon (the pious) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise),Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinoon (good‑doers). They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allaah) and praying, with fear and hope]” [al-Dhaariyaat 51:15-17]

From this we may note the virtue of qiyaam al-layl and its good consequences that cannot be ignored; it is one of the means of avoiding the punishment of Hell and attaining Paradise. May Allaah make us among those who attain success thereby.

And prophet Muhammed (pbuh) said the excellency of Qiyaam al-layl and encouraged us to pray qiyaam al-layl in many ahaadeeth as follows:

“Abdullah bin Salam (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, “O people, promote the greetings, feed (the poor and needy) and perform Salat when others are asleep so that you will enter Jannah safely.” [At-Tirmidhi]

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The best prayer after the obligatory prayer is prayer at night.” Narrated by Muslim, 1163.

And he said: “You should pray qiyaam al-layl, for it is the custom of the righteous who came before you and it brings you closer to your Lord, and expiates sins and prevents misdeeds.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi,

Al-Tirmidhi (1984) narrated that ‘Ali said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “In Paradise there are apartments the outside of which can be seen from the inside and the inside of which can be seen from the outside.” A Bedouin stood up and said: “Who are they for, O Messenger of Allaah?” He said: “They are for those who speak good words, feed others, fast regularly and pray to Allaah at night when people are sleeping.” Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.

Article by Allah knows the best…

New trend is to shake hand when you meet a person or when you are awarded!

In this article I would love to write about this new trend of socialism. In an award giving function I see our sisters wearing hijab (are Muslims) or brother holding a Muslim name shake hand with the person who awarded them(non mahram) casually. And when we encounter them they say “you know world is changed, why shouldn’t we? this is the new trend ; technology is developed we are not in olden days. We just do shake hand to respect that personality”. My dear sister or brother who told you to change according to the time and society? and who taught you that it is the way to respect? and none of us told you not to use the technology! This article is written with a complete love for the society not to hurt anyone personally.

Let us Check whether this particular habit of shaking hand with non mahram is permitted ??

It is not permissible for a man or a woman who believes in Allaah and His Messenger to put his hand in the hand of a woman or man who is not permissible for him or who is not one of his mahrams even if he was a great scholar or ruler. Whoever does that has wronged himself that which means crossed the limits set by Allah and his prophet.

It was narrated that Ma’qil ibn Yassaar said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “For one of you to be stabbed in the head with an iron needle is better for him than that he should touch a woman who is not permissible for him.”
Narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Kabeer, 486. Shaykh al-Albaani said in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 5045, that this hadeeth is saheeh.

This particular hadith itself state clearly that it is not permitted to shake hand with non mahram which is the first step to stop fitna (corruption) of the society.

There is another beautiful narration about shaking hand or touching non mahrem. If shaking hand was a sign of respect this hadith would not have been recorded.

‘Aa’ishah (ral)said: Whoever among the believing women agreed to that had passed the test, and when the women agreed to that, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to them: “Go, for you have given your oath of allegiance.’ No, by Allaah, the hand of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) never touched the hand of any woman, rather they would give their oath of allegiance with words only.” And ‘Aa’ishah said: “By Allaah, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) only took the oath of allegiance from the women in the manner prescribed by Allaah, and the hand of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) never touched the hand of any woman. When he had taken their oath of allegiance he would say, ‘I have accepted your oath of allegiance verbally.’”
(narrated by Muslim, 1866)

So my dear Muslim brothers and sisters let us not be a victim of such cultures and acts which are not permitted. Surely this kind of act will bring corruption to the whole ummah (society).visit
